The M8D was a prototype created by McLaren in 1970 to participate in the Can-Am as an evolution of the M8, with a lower and wider spoiler. The chassis was a mococasco aluminum with fiberglass bodywork. The engine was a Chevrolet injection prepared by George Lucas Bolthoff. It tartaba a 7.6-liter V8 and 650 hp. The transmission power LG500 was a 4-speed Hewland.
