The 911 GT1 EVO 98 was designed by Porsche to compete in the GT1 category in 1998, in the 24 hours of Le Mans and in the FIA GT international championship. At first, the cars of the GT1 class were Grand Touring cars modified for the competitions, but in recent years they became similar to the racing prototypes. The Porsche GT1 98 was a new car, the first built by Porsche with a monocoque chassis composed of carbon.
