Lancia LC2 was created to compete in the category Sport-Prototypes, according to Group C regulations. Participated for the first time in 1983.
Designed by Dallara, was powered by a Ferrari engine derived from the 288 GTO, electronics was very advanced for the time. The engine was a 3 liter V8 90 ° liquid cooled turbochargers that could work at a maximum pressure of 3 bars. Its four valves per cylinder were operated by dual overhead cams. The maximum power was 840 hp at 7,000 rpm. The gearbox was a Hewland 5-speed. The wheel diameter was 15 inches in the front and the rear 17.
The frame was made of aluminum and magnesium and the body was made of carbon fiber. The total weight was 850 kg.
Often, Lancia was as competitive as Porsches in pure speed but then I suffered reliability problems over longer distances.
LC2 latest car ran like a the factory in the late '85 and early '86 and then has run private computers until 1991. The most representative of them was Mussato Action Car, which carried out the development of the car despite having a limited budget.
In 1989 the car Turin brand was registered in the World Sportscar Championship with number 29. In Nürburgring the car was driven by Bruno Giacomelli and Massimo Monti
