Chaparral 2E 65 1st Governors Trophy 1966
SICA16C
In 1966 chaparral introduced the 2E model for the can-AM series. With its raised wing, smart aerodynamics and rear radiators, it was the car that changed the race forever. His best result was in dry lagoon where Phil Hill 2E won the race and Jim Hall finished second.
The wing was mounted on the rear of the suspension to apply the aerodynamic force directly on the wheels without compressing the suspensions.
The position of the wing could be adjusted with a foot pedal mechanism, from the maximum loading angle to rotate to the minimum angle for the lines. Of all chaparals, this car was Jim Hall's favorite.
This car was fitted with a semi-monocoque chassis and a small 327 V8 chevrolet engine.
In 1966, in Nassau, the first governor's trophy and the Nassau Tournament Trophy, hap sharp won the race with this car.
