The competitors were mainly Cadillac teams, Panoz motorsports and Pescarolo sport, as well as other private lmp.

On 31 December 2000, the 1000 year Race, valid for the Le Mans LMP Series was held at the Adelaide circuit. Audi participated with a LMP painted with a special decoration of crocodile as homage to Australia. The race lasted 850 km instead of 1000, and was won by audi n 77 piloted by Rinaldo Capello and Allan Mcnish.
