88C is a prototype sports car designed by Toyota in 1988, according to the specifications of Group C. The car, designed by Dome, was an evolution of the Model 87. It was powered by 2.1 liter refrigerated water of 680 horses, 4-cylinder turbo engine called 3S-GT, with 16 valves operated by dual overhead cams on the head. The chassis was a monocoque aluminum composite whose body was made of carbon fiber and kevlar. Tom's Toyota team participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1988 with a 88C at 36 sponsored by Minolta, Japanese worldwide manufacturer of cameras, photocopiers, fax machines and laser printers. The car was driven by Geoff Lees, Masanori Sekiya, and Kaoru Hoshino.
