The Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI is a race car built to compete in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft) series in 1993. At that time, the German Touring Car Championship was the peak of technology for passenger car racing and It was reserved for Class cars. 1 (first division or D1). The rules required cars with a 2.5-liter engine and a maximum of 6 cylinders, derived from approved models and produced in no less than 25,000 units. The rules allowed for deep changes in the car, as long as the outside lines were maintained.
When Alfa Romeo introduced its four-wheel-drive, 420 bhp, 155, the Mercedes 190 with more conventional rear-wheel drive could not match Alfa's performance. In 1993, the Italian car dominated the category, winning 12 races out of 20 with its two factory riders, winning both drivers 'and constructors' titles. To date, the Alfa Romeo 155 is the only non-German car that has won a DTM championship.
