The Alfa Romeo Type 33 Sport Prototype was designed in the mid-1960s to compete in the World Championship. He was successful and won the Constructors' Championship in 1975, and again in 1977.
Designed by Carlo Chiti, a famous Italian engineer, the various variants of the car as offices of Alfa and also in private hands.
After the initial victories in the category Prototype 2 liters, the version T33 / 3 was released in 1969 and obtained its best result in the
1971 World Championship: The open prototype Autodelta won the overall classification in Brands Hatch, Watkins Glen and Targa Florio, being even faster than the 5-liter Sport cars.
The T33 3 fitted a monocoque chassis with aluminum and magnesium panels, a 2,898 cc V8 engine, and a 5- or 6-speed gearbox.
The maximum speed reached was 330 km / h at Le Mans with the long tail.
